Offering as
our Worship

“And a poor widow came and put in two small copper coins, which make a penny. And he called his disciples to him and said to them, “Truly, I say to you, this poor widow has put in more than all those who are contributing to the offering box. For they all contributed out of their abundance, but she out of her poverty has put in everything she had, all she had to live on.”- Mark 12:42-44

The Offering is an expression of our Worship, as a response to God, our Provider. The Biblical command to giving reflects the Christian understanding that we are but stewards of our material possessions, and one of the greatest joys and privileges is in sharing those resources with the needful. Tithing is therefore an act of worship that expresses our gratitude, faith, and love for others. As with the poor widow in the temple (Mark 12:42), may we continue to give "out of our poverty”, in honour of Christ who gave us everything.

What we give towards

Boscombe Life Church is held accountable by its Leadership Board, elected every 2 years, with audited accounts which are presented to members during AGM each year. Beyond staff salaries and administration, collected funds are also used for the following purposes:

Local & Global Missions

We believe that the sharing of the Good News is the primary function of the church.

To this end, we endeavour to engage both the local as well as the international community to fulfil the great commission of preaching the good news to the 4 corners of the earth. We currently support missionary efforts in Cambodia and Thailand in reaching out to street kids and children from the provinces, through the establishment of kindergartens and primary schools in Cambodia; and to the villages of Chiang Mai, bringing the Good News of hope to the lost.

Community Services & Outreach

“The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the poor; he has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound” Isaiah 61:1

The Biblical narrative reveals God’s love, particularly for the poor, the downtrodden and the marginalised. When an expert of the Law asked Jesus who (his) neighbour was, in order that he may gain eternal life through “loving your neighbour as yourself ”, Jesus responds with the parable of the Good Samaritan, and ends with the command “Go and do likewise”.

At BLC, we have committed resources to helping the community, as one of the pioneers to offer free Legal Clinics (monthly), as well as working with NKF to assist their dialysis patients, and working with Gladiolus Place to provide a safe refuge for teenage girls.

Joo Chiat Heartland

We believe that God has blessed us with our church building right here, in the heritage heartlands of Joo Chiat.

We are proud and grateful to the Joo Chiat community, with its vibrant mix of diverse ethnicities and cultures, for having received us with grace and hospitality. We continue to seek to be a blessing, and endeavour to use BLC’s premises for more activities that can better serve and engage the community.

To this end, we commit to fund not just the maintenance of the building and land, but to invest in improving the use of space within for greater community outreach and engagement.

To God be all glory!
